BISD holds telethon to get dropouts back in school

Updated: Wednesday, September 25 2013, 06:14 PM CDT
Beaumont Independent School District is reaching out to more than 140 students who did not re-enroll in school this fall.
The district hosted its first drop-out telethon, giving a ring to students and parents in a push to help more students graduate.
They call it "Mission Possible: Expectation Graduation." Faculty, staff and volunteers called these former students and offered them different options for finishing high school with the help of a support system.
While the district saw a 95 percent graduation rate last year, district superintendent Dr. Timothy Chargois says he wants 100 percent.
He calls this a last-ditch effort to reach out to these students for their own good and the good of the community.
The supervisor of guidance and counseling also tells us that even if a student is older, they still have options.BISD holds telethon to get dropouts back in school
