Remembering Cowboy John Garner

SOUTHEAST TEXAS - The host of a popular television program in Southeast Texas has died.

John Garner died at about 8:30 Sunday night at his home, according to Judge John Stevens, who told us Garner had battled pancreatic cancer.

The judge's father and Garner co-hosted a local children's television program that aired on KJAC from 1958-1972.

Garner played Cowboy John and Judge Stevens' father played Black Bart.

The judge told Fox 4 he and his father both got a chance to visit Garner in recent weeks.

He told us Garner's legacy is a children's program that remains know, to this day, decades after it last aired in Southeast Texas.
