Spraying begins as mosquito population grows

Updated: Monday, September 30 2013, 06:07 PM CDT
How many times have you been attacked by mosquitoes these past few days?
It may be more than you've felt in a while, but tonight and tomorrow morning, crews will continue spraying to get rid of the pesky bugs.
Officials with the Jefferson County Mosquito Control say the mosquito population has increased because of recent rains and high tides a few weeks ago.
A mosquito takes about 10 days to go from an egg to adulthood.
Spraying began this weekend, and they expect to continue throughout the week.
Officals say it will only get worse before it gets better because to be effective, the chemicals must come in contact with the mosquitoes.
Officials say with the spraying and expected north winds, they should be gone by next week.Spraying begins as mosquito population grows
