TEA releases report on BISD special education program

The Texas Education Agency is recommending that the state appoint a monitor to oversee the special education program in the Beaumont Independent School District.
The recommendations are included in the agency's final report on special ed in the district.
Among the recommendations, the agency is asking the state to appoint a monitor to oversee the program and make sure there's improvement. The report also states special education staffing must be evaluated at each campus, and staff members involved in special ed should undergo extensive training.
The agency is still investigating other areas of BISD, including complaints of cheating on tests as well as questions about the district's finances and student attendance.TEA releases report on BISD special education program
