Update on closing of Beaumont abortion clinic

Updated: Thursday, March 6 2014, 06:09 PM CST
BEAUMONT - The President of Whole Women's Health says the clinic in Beaumont and one in McAllen will close because "Texas politicians have forced us to shut our doors."

Reporter Leslie Rangel is investigating.

The clinic has operated in Beaumont for more than 10 years. The final abortion was done last week and the last general services patient was seen Tuesday. Workers will spend the next two days packing up.

The president of Whole Women's Health says they weren't able to get admitting privileges at local hospitals-something the Texas Legislature now requires.
