A Southeast Texas women's shelter asking for donations

Updated: Thursday, July 10 2014, 11:29 PM CDT
Jasper's Piney Woods Shelter is not turning any families in need away just simply asking for donations big and small to help things run smoother.

Fox 4's Leslie Rangel spoke with shelter managers and reports on why they believe there are so many women there and what one woman says brought her to the safe house.

A list of item's the shelter is looking for:

  • Any non-perishable food items that women can use or take with them after they're placed in a new home.
  • Toothbrushes, deodorant, and other toiletries
  • They are accepting any toys
  • A chance at giving these women jobs. Many struggle with employment because their attackers often keep them from holding jobs.
  • Newborn baby necessities since some of the women currently housed at the shelter are expecting babies and don't have money to buy them.
If you are interested in helping out the shelter you can call 409-384-1225. A Southeast Texas women's shelter asking for donations
