Updated: Friday, July 11 2014, 02:25 PM CDT
The Beaumont Fire Department responded to a report of a child locked in a safe at the La Morenita Meat Market at about 12:30 p.m. Friday in the 800 block of South 11th Street, according to a news release.

KBTV learned that a 4-year-old boy was playing in the storeroom and accidentally locked himself in a safe.

Firefighters used a special saw to cut the hinges of the door and then used the "Jaws of Life" to pry the door open, the release stated.

It took firefighters about 30 minutes to free the child from the safe.

The child was checked by Beaumont EMS after he was freed and they found that he was all right, the release stated.BFD responds to boy locked in safe
