Texans waived former Ozen Panther and two other rookies

Updated: Monday, October 21 2013, 10:35 PM CDT
The Texans have waived former Ozen Panther Willie Jefferson-- along with two other rookies-- running back Cierre Woods and defensive end Sam Montgomery.

The three reportedly were released for violating team rules in their KC hotel.

Reports say the three were smoking cigars in their hotel but no other substance was reported and the room never searched.

Monday the three were told of their release. Jefferson worked hard during training camp just to make the team as a undrafted free agent linebacker out of SFA. Jefferson played in two games this season recording two tackles, one solo and one an assist, and with inside linebacker Brian Cushing out for the year again who knows if Jefferson could have had a larger role with the Texans moving forward.

Speaking of Cushing, a torn LCL and broken leg will end his year and the injury came by way of Port Arthur's own Jamaal Charles on a block. But Cushing has nothing but respect for charles-- the two sent messages via Twitter, first Charles saying to Cushing wishing a speedy recovery. Cushing responded to Charles saying: "I know you were just doing your job, nothing but respect for your game."
