UIL changes classifications, adds Class 6A

Updated: Monday, December 2 2013, 10:40 PM CST
The governing body of high school athletics in the state of Texas made a move today. The UIL released its new classifications to take affect for the 2014 athletic season. This is classifications -- not realignment. Districts are formed in February, and when the new list comes out, it will look quite different.
We will have a Class 6A starting with football next fall, and there is no more six-man football. Basically six-man will be Class 1A, and everything else moves up one.
