Fox 4 has learned D.A.'s office files Class B Misdemeanor obstruction charge against BISD's Jessie Haynes
BEAUMONT - Fox 4 has learned the Jefferson County District Attorney's Office has filed a criminal case against BISD's Jessie Haynes.
District Attorney Tom Maness tells KFDM News that Monday morning his office filed a Class B Misdemeanor charge against Haynes as a result of actions following the August 1 board meeting.
"As a result of an investigation submitted by the Beaumont Independent School District, a case was filed charging Jessie Haynes with Obstructing a Public Passageway," Maness told Fox 4. "This is Section 42.03 of the Texas Penal Code. It's a Class B Misdemeanor. If convicted, Haynes could face up to 180 days in jail and a fine of up to $2,000.
Administrators in the D.A.'s office tell Fox 4 that procedure calls for an arrest warrant to be issued but Haynes will be allowed to make arrangements to voluntarily surrender at the jail.
