Jasper city council votes to raise taxes
Residents in Jasper will be seeing a higher tax bill.
The city council decided on Monday to slightly raise taxes for the upcoming fiscal year. They're implementing an increase of around three cents per $100 of assessed property value.
Some residents at the meeting voiced their concern over the increase and wanted the council to address the recovery of deliquent taxes instead.
The interim city manager told us taxes have been lowered in Jasper every year since 2003 until this year.
