TxDot hosts car seat checkup to promote child safety while driving
To kick off National Child Passenger Safety Week,TxDot has teamed up with the Medical Center of Southeast Texas to host a car seat checkup Saturday, September 14, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Certified child passenger safety technicians will be checking car seats to make sure they're not only installed correctly, but to make sure they have not been recalled or broken.
Attendees should bring their children along with the child's height and weight measurements.
Texas law requires children younger than 8, unless taller than 4' 9", to ride in safety seats.
Fines are currently up to $250 plus court fees.
