Nonprofit needs contracts to help disabled employees
A nonprofit is in need of more contracts to keep employing people with disabilities.
Tuesday, Beaumont Products and Services gave city council a picture of its employees and thanked council members for their on-going contract.
The 13 employees pick up litter and trash across the city as well as in downtown Beaumont.
Most employees were born with a disability and work for minimum wage at 40 hours a week. The contract also covers most of downtown Beaumont including Riverfront Park, City Hall grounds, the Julie Rogers Theatre and the police department.
The manager of the company says the employees feel fulfilled by working to help them maintain a living.
