Update: Police release names of young girl, father who die after they're found unresponsive in wading pool at Alice Keith Park
UPDATE: Detectives have identified a man and a young girl who died at a hospital after being found unresponsive in the wading pool at Alice Keith Park in Beaumont.
Traveth Quinn, a 31-year-old man, and his 3-year-old daughter Legend Quinn, were both residents of Beaumont, according to authorities.
A City of Beaumont maintenance worker was checking the grounds when he saw a man floating face down in the wading pool, Sgt. Rob Flores said.
The worker approached and saw that the arm of a child was sticking out from underneath the man and the worker immediately called 9-1-1, Flores said.
Patrol officers responded to a reported drowning in the wading pool of the Alice Keith Park at about 10:45 a.m. Thursday in the 4000 block of Reed Street.
Beaumont EMS and Fire Department personnel attempted to resuscitate the man and child at the scene and then rushed both of them to the Baptist Hospital Emergency Room where ER personnel pronounced them dead.
The circumstances surrounding the drowning are suspecious and detectives are working to determine how Traveth Quinn and Legend Quinn entered the locked facility and how they spent their morning prior to going to the pool, Flores said.
Detectives are interviewing neighbors who live near the pool as well as family members of the two, Flores said.
Judge Ransom Jones has ordered autopsies which are scheduled to be performed Friday.
