Early voting in full swing for those voting in Nov. election
Early voting in Texas is now in full swing for those who will be 'casting ballots early for the November 5th election.
Texans can cast their ballots at any early voting location in the county where they are registered.
But there is a change in effect this year - voters must now have a valid form of identification in order to cast their ballots.
The new rules apply for all state elections going forward. In most cases it means voters will need a valid driver's license in order to cast a vote.
But there are other options for those who do not have a driver's license they can get what is called an election identification certificate, which are being issued at department of public safety offices.
Voter ID laws have proved controversial in recent years civil rights groups contend they are put in place to keep certain demographics from the polls.
Early voting is open until November 1st.
