Terroristic threat prompts school cancellation in Evadale, early release in Warren
JASPER COUNTY - What the Jasper County Sheriff's Office is calling a terroristic threat has prompted the Evadale school district to cancel classes Thursday and the Warren ISD to release students early.
Jasper County Chief Deputy Bob Walker tells us deputies learned about the threat late Wednesday night.
He wouldn't be specific about the nature of the threat but told us as a precaution the district decided to cancel all classes Thursday.
No one has been hurt and the investigation into who made the threat is underway.
Walker says students were scheduled to get out early Thursday to begin Christmas break. Investigators believe canceling classes was prudent and would have little impact on students and staff.
Sheriff's deputies are patrolling the schools today to be sure the community is safe.
The threat prompted the Warren ISD to release students at 10 a.m. Thursday.
