Advocacy groups slow Beaumont housing project
More than $12 million have remained unused for the past four years to help rebuild the Concord home projects in the north end of Beaumont.
Today, residents say they're fed up with false promises.
One resident showed us around her home saying the conditions are deplorable. She says there's roaches, mold and even rats inside her apartment home.
They are concerns the Beaumont Housing Authority executive director knows all too well.
He's been ready to rebuild since 2009 and says Austin advocacy groups have held up the reconstruction by threatening to sue. They believe the housing project needs to rebuild in an area like the west end, which they say is not depressed and offers low income housing residents more opportunity.
Officials with the housing authority and residents say the claims are bogus.
