Man sentenced to life in prison for murder of Lamar freshman
A jury deliberated for less than an hour before deciding to send a man to prison for life for killing a Lamar University freshman.
It took the same jury less than an hour to convict Curtis Glaze of murder Wednesday.
He will have to serve at least 30 years of his sentence before being eligible for parole.
Glaze killed 18-year-old Brian Drake in November of 2012.
Drake died from a bullet that went through the headrest in his truck and hit him in the back of the head.
Deputies say Drake was trying to get away from Glaze and his cousin, Joshua.
Investigators say the Glaze cousins were chasing Drake on Highway 326 between Kountze and Sour Lake, when they fired several shots at Drake's truck.
One bullet hit Drake. His truck veered off the highway and went over an embankment.
Drake died at the scene.
Joshua Glaze is also charged with murder.
His case has not yet gone to trial.
Joshua Glaze could also face life in prison.
