Port Arthur police pass out gifts to families in need
Each time this year, the Port Arthur Police Department passes out gifts to families as part of their Blue Santa Program.
The goal is to make Christmas a little brighter for families, and this time around was no different.
Families lined up at the Bob Bowers Civic Center to collect their gifts.
Many parents say without the Blue Santa program, their kids wouldn't receive much on Christmas morning.
Roughly 275 families signed up this year.
That is down from last year.
Organizers are hopeful it's a sign of good times.
They also hope that the event fosters growth and a sense of community involvement for young people in Port Arthur.
This is the 20th year for Blue Santa in Port Arthur.
