Man charged with making terroristic threats
JASPER COUNTY - Law enforcement officers have charged a man with making a terroristic threat that prompted a school district to cancel classes.
The Jasper County Sheriff's Office says investigators filed formal charges Friday against Regan Butaud, 32, of Harris County. A justice of the peace arraigned him at the Jasper County Jail and set his bond at $100,000.
Jasper County Sheriff Mitchel Newman, deputies and other federal and state officers arrested Butaud Thursday at his home.
If convicted of the 3rd Degree Felony he could face up to two years in a state jail.
The sheriff isn't elaborating on the nature of the threat. It prompted the Evadale school district to cancel classes Thursday and the Warren school district to send students home early.
