After shooting at Beaumont club, other venues prepare for New Year's
Following a weekend shooting outside a Beaumont nightclub, police and a nearby nightclub manager are looking ahead to New Year's Eve and how to keep themselves and customers safe.
Tomorrow, New Year's Eve revelers will make their way to the Gig on Crockett Street.
It's a celebration that comes on the heels of a weekend shooting that took place just a few blocks away on Orleans.
Club Xclusive in the 300 block of Orleans provided the backdrop of a shooting early Sunday morning.
At 4:30, the club was already closed, but police say a man fired shots before getting in a vehicle and taking off.
One victim was struck in the left cheek.
The other was struck just above his left ankle.
Neither of the wounds is considered life-threatening.
Police have little information about the gunman or the vehicle.
A couple of blocks away, one nightclub manager on Crockett Street says he's not worried about anything similar happening there on New Year's, primarly because of the security at the downtown entertainment district.
