Hunting guide sentenced for transporting illegally killed alligator
A hunting and fishing guide has been sentenced for transporting an alligator he knew had been shot in violation of state and federal wildlife laws.
Prosecutors say 49-year-old Steve Barclay admitted on several occasions he witnessed a client shoot and kill three alligators.
They say he knew that Texas law limits hunters to one alligator per hunter per season.
Barclay admitted that he transported the alligator to a taxidermy shop.
He pleaded guilty and was sentenced to three years' probation and ordered to pay a $5,000 fine today.
